My whole life I’ve known what I wanted to do, and that’s working with animals. I have a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Zoology from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. In addition to the Palace I am also employed at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque Iowa. I have had a lot of animal care experience in a zoo, aquarium, sanctuary, and raptor education center. Working at the Pooch Palace is my first professional dog care experience and I’m loving it as much as I love working with exotics. Growing up I was surrounded by dogs. Unfortunately, not ones of my own (because of my father’s allergies) but other family members and close friends. I have always had a special place in my heart for dogs and I am very excited to own one of my own someday.

It can be a little difficult to see how experience with exotics can translate to domestics, like dogs, but in a lot of ways it is surprisingly similar. Cleaning up after the animals, prepping and feeding their food, and reading their body language are all easily understood similarities. Other similarities are providing enrichment/socialization and administering medicine. I am very happy and excited to be employed here and I am very excited to take care of your fur babies in a comfortable and warm setting while you’re away!
